ABOUT US

Formerly known as the Big Easy Shorts Festival, last year we ventured into screening feature films in addition to the same amount of short films we've always screened. This year, we are completing the transition into the Big Easy International Film Festival. Going into our 4th year, we have continued to deliver great films to the amazing New Orleans audience. We have screened films from all-over-the-world, including many from the state of Louisiana.

The Festival was created to help support New Orleans' continued come-back from Hurricane Katrina, to support Louisiana filmmakers (Louisiana filmmakers CLICK HERE for details), and to make filmmakers from outside the state aware of the incredible potential to shooting in our great state. We are also focusing on building the New Orleans Indie Filmmaker Scene and supporting youth filmmaking in the New Orleans area.

We are also dedicated to supporting the many charities involved in the continued re-building of New Orleans and the preservation of the city and Southern Louisiana's natural resources.

This year we have also launched 2 exciting features to the Festival:

1. We have added an additional shorts program to this year's festival. We will have an entire program dedicated to "ONLINE INTERNET SERIES". With the increase in popularity of ongoing internet series, we are looking for some of the best to screen at this year's festival.

2. Along with the Beverly Hills Shorts Festival, we have launched a new online film festival where the winners will be decided by the online audience and will screen at both the Big Easy International Film Festival and the Beverly Hills Shorts Festival. If you have a HORROR or THRILLER, submit to the DARKNESS REIGNS ONLINE HORROR FILM FESTIVAL. You can submit through either festival's WAB account or directly through the DARKNESS REIGNS website by clicking HERE.
